ARE WE HAVING FUN YET? - 2007 - CLICK HERE FOR STATEMENT

“The excursion is the same when you go looking for your sorrow as when you go looking for your joy.”
-Eudora Welty
The intricacies of your existence do not fade away when you enter an amusement park, mount a carousel, or buy a corn dog.
These images were not created by looking for people or objects that matched a statement. Rather, they happened because the question “Are we having fun yet?” looped constantly in my mind while photographing.
These fun-seekers cannot escape themselves. This is evident in every blank but loaded expression, in every attempt to make something more than it is, in every disappointment that this promise of happiness is nothing more than a collection of grinding rusted metal in a litter-covered parking lot.
